I must say, it was an exceptional experience. The first thing that caught my attention was the size of the fish they served. It was absolutely massive! I was pleasantly surprised by the generous portion size, which left me feeling completely satisfied. Not only was the food delicious, but the cleanliness of the shop was also impressive. The entire place was spotless. It was clear that the owners took great pride in maintaining a hygienic and inviting environment for their customers. The service I received was top-notch as well. The staff members were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Their warm and welcoming attitude added to the overall positive experience. What impressed me the most, however, was the fantastic value for money. The quality of the food, combined with the reasonable prices, made it an excellent choice for a satisfying meal. I truly felt that I was getting my money's worth and more. All in all, I would give this fish and chip shop a well-deserved five-star rating. The massive fish, clean premises, great service, and fantastic value for money are just a few reasons why I highly recommend it. Soooooo goood. I visited this place previous weekend to try this traditional meal. Fish was very fresh, fried just after ordered. Fries could be better (was soft, not crispy). Size of the fish is huuuge. Whole portion is huge. Next time we will take two fish and one chips.

After ordering 2 small fish and chips, both myself and my husband were shocked at just how big the portions are! The batter on the fish was beautiful too! We have been here many times and this is the only fish and chip shop we ever use! Would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a great fish and chip shop at very reasonable prices! Fish and chips done right! Passing through Pontefract I asked Google what the best Fish & Chips in the area was, I was recommended to Lanes. My order as Fish , chips and mushy peas with a buttered breadbun. ( Don't forget lashings of Salt and Vinegar!) The Fish was golden brown, perfectly cooked with crispy flavourful batter, encasing fluffy and thick chunks of tender White Cod, Delicious is not overstating it! The chips where also Golden and fluffy, cooked to perfection, very tasty and with a slight crisp exterior adding great texture. The mushy peas I personally prefer slightly thicker but the taste was good, and the bread cake I would suggest changing supplier as its not quite as fluffy and fresh as I have found from alternative sources, really though, these are small infringements on an otherwise beautiful meal which served as just the right amount in terms of portion size. A big Fish on top of a medium amount of chips will leave you full without over extending yourself at the cost of feeling bloated. I can see why Google has this as the best in the area, I have to agree 👍 Thanks

Best chip shop in Ponte, the food quality is amazing, the staff are always full of smiles, kind and there to help if you need it and the service is quick and efficient. It gets busy at dinner and tea time, but only because it’s the best chippy around here! Avoid peak times if you want to walk in and grab your food but everyone has to try this place!

Amazing service, been going for years and has always been a treat looking forward to on a Saturday would highly recommend this establishment if looking for high quality food for fair prices
